The Student Spotlight shines on Aaliyah Cantu this week. Aaliyah, from Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute in Corpus Christi, TX, earned a $3,000 “Experts in Wax” scholarship from European Wax Center.

“This scholarship will help fulfill my biggest dream of becoming a solo esthetician, something I’ve dreamed of since I was a young girl.” Starting early, around ten years of age, she knew esthetics was her calling.  She was constantly watching beauty transformation videos on YouTube because she loved seeing people expressing genuine happiness after even a simple service.  Growing up as a young girl, she said she felt insecure about the normal issues that teens face, but after receiving her first eyebrow wax and saw how it transformed her face; it genuinely changed her entire outlook and boosted her confidence. European Wax Center believes the right education is key, and since 2018 has been partnering with Beauty Changes Lives, to offer the “Experts in Wax” Esthetics/Cosmetology Scholarships. The “Experts in Wax” $3,000 Scholarship is given to those who are currently or newly enrolled students in an esthetics or cosmetology program to help offset the cost of tuition. These scholarships help the recipients refine their skills, embrace a career in the personal care industry and become the experts we know they can be so they can help bring out the confidence in their clients.
