Student Spotlight – Qiyam Stewart

This week’s spotlight shines on Qiyam Stewart, a student from the Washington DC Hair Academy. He was the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship from Great Clips as part of their Great Scholarship program.
Qiyam has been around hair cutting his entire life. His great uncle owned a barbershop where his grandfather worked and his father and uncles knew how to cut hair. He realized that it’s a useful skill and “hair always grows.” He gets great satisfaction from people who recognize that they got a good haircut and that’s one of the things that brings him back to the chair.
