For Tiara Dixon, beauty has never been just about hair. It’s been about transformation, creativity, and purpose from the very beginning. Long before enrolling as a cosmetology student at Ogle School in Atlanta, she was already experimenting with style and discovering her passion. “As a young girl, I loved fashion and beauty,” she shares. “I started doing hair in sixth grade on myself and family and friends, and I learned that I loved the industry.”

That early curiosity has grown into a clear sense of direction. Tiara has already found services she loves and wants to build upon. Her favorite work includes quick weaves and wigs, and she’s actively developing her braiding skills to expand her offerings. Like many students early in their journey, she’s embracing growth over perfection, learning, refining, and staying open to what’s next.

But Tiara is honest about the challenges she’s faced along the way. Her biggest obstacle hasn’t been technical skill or opportunity. It’s been internal. “My obstacle is myself, and I am overcoming things throughout this journey,” she reflects. That self-awareness has become a source of strength, pushing her to stay committed even when the work gets hard.

Looking ahead, Tiara’s goals are both ambitious and deeply rooted in service. First on her list is passing the state board, but her long-term vision goes far beyond graduation. One dream she’s especially passionate about is opening a salon designed for elderly clients and individuals with disabilities.

Tiara isn’t waiting for the future to start preparing. She’s actively taking steps now to bring her goals to life, from studying new skills, building a strong portfolio, and networking in the industry by attending beauty events.

For inspiration, Tiara looks to one of the most iconic figures in beauty history: Madam C.J. Walker. “She inspires me to be creative,” Tiara says. “If she can invent a hair line, a whole system for Black women, I believe I can make many of my dreams happen.” Madam C.J. Walker’s legacy as a self-made millionaire fuels Tiara’s own vision.

At her core, Tiara is driven by purpose. She sees herself not just as a future professional, but as a contributor to the longevity and evolution of the industry. “I’m determined to help keep the hair and beauty industry alive with my gifts and creativity,” she says.

As she continues her education and steps closer to graduation, Tiara represents a new generation of professionals: creative, driven, and ready to build careers that matte
